jokes and ear wax

Because making jokes about Reese's size never gets old...

When we went to the doctor last week, Reese had been running a low fever for a few days. He had no teeth coming in {that we could see} and no other visible symptoms of illness. I had been alternating Motrin with Tylenol for three days and I just felt like a trip to the doctor would reassure me {and Lofton} that Reese was fine. He was, of course, fine. No ear problems. No nothing. A quick twenty bucks down the drain.

And on the ear front, I am always worried that Reese is going to have an ear infection. It seems like every mom I know grapples with ear infections all the time. No worries for us though. Reese has extra ear wax. "Eww gross!" was my first reaction. No so fast though, evidently extra ear wax is a good thing. It keeps you from getting water and bacteria in your ears. Maybe forgetting to clean in {and around} your kid's ears for seven weeks keeps you infection free.

Now to the fat jokes...

Dr. Greer was asking me how much Tylenol/Motrin I give Reese at each dose. When I told him he laughed. Evidently little BIG man can take the dosage for toddlers, which is twice as much as I had been giving him. No wonder the fever wouldn't budge. I can even buy the children's Tylenol/Motrin now instead of infants. Unlike bigger diapers {which cost more as you get bigger}, medicine is less expensive as you get bigger. Yippee!!!

Oh, and for those of you who may be keeping track, Reese weighed 24 pounds, three ounces. A full pound more than when he had gone to the doctor a week and a half before. The nurse said he is going to have to learn to stand soon because he is a few ounces away from not fitting on the baby scale.

i am right there with you on the weight jokes. bennett is well at the tip top of his age percentiles.

plus, as an added bonus, his new teachers in the "toddler" room at MDO told me they have never seen a baby eat as much as he does. EVER. and they have been doing this for years and work 5 days a week with countless babies coming in and out of their "room."

splendid! :)
