Attack of the bear

Last night was a sleepless night for all of the Beasley family. I have told y'all before about our womb bear. It was a savior for many MANY nights when we first started putting Reese to sleep in his crib. Now that he's gotten older we don't use it very often, but it still sits in the corner of his bed.

Flash forward to last night. I had washed a load of Reese's stuff late yesterday afternoon and was too lazy to get it out of the dryer. Included in the load was the cover for the wedge he has been sleeping on. It is the same wedge he slept on when he first came home from the hospital, it's just that now he sleeps on it belly down. Having his head elevated seems to help him breathe a little better. So last night Lofton put Reese to bed in his crib without the wedge. About two in the morning we were aroused from our slumber by a loud shrieking noise coming from Reese's bedroom so Lofton got up to go check on him. What he found was the womb bear mauling our son. Somehow Reese had rolled over and bumped into the bear in his sleep. The bear then fell on top of Reese's face. When Lofton found him he was literally being attacked. He had his feet kicking and his arms flailing about, but he just couldn't get that darn bear off his face.

Lofton took the bear off and of course Reese was wide awake. Lofton tried (or so he says) to get Reese back to sleep. I then took my turn. I knew it was hopeless when I peaked into the crib and Reese was laying on his back, feet propped up on the side of the crib, grinning at me. After MULTIPLE attempts to get him back to sleep I gave up and brought him into our bed with us. Needless to say the three of us did not sleep much after that.
