The Beasley family will emerge from quarantine tomorrow and enter back into regular life. It has been a long few days.
Lofton got sick late Thursday night/early Friday morning. I was already at home on Friday spending the day with a recovering Reese, so luckily I was able to tend to both men at the same time. Reese and I hung out in the bedroom all day and Lofton stayed confined to the couch and the hall bathroom. Whenever I walked by I doused anything he touched with Clorox spray.
It was not enough to spare me from the wrath of the stomach bug though. Around six on Friday night i started feeling a little ill. I told myself the symptoms were fake-- I only thought I was getting sick because everyone else was sick. Around seven, I moved Reese to the floor with all his play things-- safety first, I couldn't leave him on the bed and rush to the bathroom.
Around eight I had to walk into the living room to tell Lofton I was sick too. You can imagine his response. Since he hadn't been sick since mid-morning he took over baby duty. It was a very long Friday night and Saturday morning. I won't go into details, but I will say that it was very de ja vu like because exactly a year ago I was doing the exact same thing except for a different reason. A year ago yesterday I came home from school sick (and thought it was a stomach bug) only to realize I was pregnant on February 2, 2008. My how far we've come in a year!
I finally emerged this morning and Lofton and spent the day sanitizing the house. We've scrubbed the bathrooms, washed all the clothes, towels, and bed linens in hot water, and cloroxed anything else we touched.
A special thanks to our Mimi for coming to keep Reese on Wednesday and Thursday. We are so sorry you got sick too!
