doctor appointment

Nothing exciting to report here. I went to the doctor today. I am still 2 cm dilated and between 80-90% effaced. We are still a go for next Thursday, so unless something changes between now and then, October 2nd will be Reese's birthday. I have three days left at school and then I'm "on vacation" until December 1st.

I have another doctor's appointment next Tuesday...

September belly and fat feet

September belly

Fat ankles. If you look closely you can see the creases. Notice I got a pedicure this weekend. Helen, my nail person, felt like my feet needed a little attention. I had to agree. My toenails hadn't been painted in a while because I can no longer reach them. I can't go into labor with ugly toes! I did convince Lofton to shave the bottoms of my legs this weekend. He wasn't very excited about it, but sometimes you have to do things you don't want to do:) He draws the line at painting toenails. Also, this new camera is amazing.

no news

Nothing new to report. Just tired and uncomfortable. I have a doctor's appointment on Thursday so maybe he'll have some news then.

me time

Happy Labor Day! I have been waiting for this day to come for many, many weeks. A day where I could be by myself. Don't get me wrong, I really love my husband. I love spending time with him and we haven't had very much of that lately with our work schedules, BUT I also really love to be by myself.

I don't ever get me time.

While I am blessed to have a wonderful class this year, I am surrounded all day by children and adults asking questions and needing me to do things "right now." When I come home from work, I cook dinner and attempt to rest before it all starts over again.

I have been desperately needing a day to myself. I sent Lofton to Lagrange in my car for a golf tournament so unless an emergency presents itself I am not leaving this house. (* I could drive his car if i absolutely needed to, but it doesn't have air conditioning and I'm spoiled.)

So, what am I doing today?

Task one is to complete my lesson plans. My type-A personality needs everything to be ready when I take my maternity leave.

Task two is to play with my new camera. Lofton and I went electronics shopping on Friday night. I wanted a new camera to document Reese, Lofton wanted a new TV for football season. We both won. I got a Cannon powershot SD 790 and Lofton got a 32 inch flat screen.

Task three is to pack what I can in my hospital bag. I typed Lofton a list "just on case", but I should probably not rely on him to remember to follow my instructions.

Task four is to reflect on what a long and blessed 35 weeks pregnancy I have had. Now that school is back in session the days fly by and before I can blink the week is gone. Reese will be here before we know it. I am so excited and ready for him to be here with us. Our family of four is going to make a perfect family of five. I'm ready to hold him, rock him, and feed him. I'm ready to be a mom. More than that though, I'm ready to see Lofton be a dad. He is going to be amazing.

So, Happy Labor day! I hope you are spending it exactly as you want.
