A conglomeration of things...

Sorry I have not posted any new information lately. Life as been hectic. And if my typing is off, it is because I just slammed my finger in the door. Ouch.

Lofton and I spent the weekend in Savannah for Cassie's wedding. It was beautiful, the weather was fantastic, and although i did not see my husband very much I think he enjoyed himself. I had a wonderful time reacquainting with old friends, and reminiscing about high school. Cassie was, as expected, an exquisite bride. She was beaming with happiness, and as her oldest friend it was wonderful to see. This is a particularly foul picture of me, but Cassie looks great. I look puffy.

I have found that as long as I take my medicine I can keep my sickness under control. I self experimented and took myself off for a day, but it didn't turn out very well. Evidently I am destined to be ill for the duration of this pregnancy. Yippee!

I am in a foul mood today because my kids have gotten summer-itis a little early. But, when I got home today I realized that it is April 23. And, on April 23, 2004 I took a very dashing young man to a Spring Formal, and the rest as they say is history. Since most of you know Lofton and I's history I won't go into detail. I will, however, say that I am a very lucky girl to wake up everyday next to my prince, and now that we are soon-to-be parents I love him more than I thought possible.

Also, yesterday, my step-father in-law's mother passed away. Lofton and I are both so sad for Lee, John Lee, and the whole Richter family. Dot was always very spirited and funny. She loved Charlie Joseph's, lunch at Katie's everyday, Georgia football, and John Wayne movies. In the four years that I have been a part of this family, the happiest I have ever seen her is when she was spending time with John Lee. When he would take her to lunch, or spend time with her at the house she lit up with joy. Please keep them in your prayers.

appointment yesterday

Sorry I didn't write yesterday. Needless to say, it was the worst day in the history of my third grade career. I will never make children write their multiplication facts for homework EVER again. There are some very crazy parents in the world, and Lord help me if I become one of them.

My doctor's appointment went well yesterday. Thank you, Dr. Alverson, for giving me some medicine for my morning (but not really in the morning) sickness. I am hopeful it is going to work. So far today has been great. I have also switched from my prenatal vitamins to Flinstones. I actually got the Flinstones gummies and they are fabulous. It's like eating gummy bears (my favorite candy). I still haven't gained any weight, but I'm sure it will come.

We also got to hear Baby B's heart rate with the Doppler. It was 152. The first time we heard it it was 161, so Dr. Alverson said it is still running relatively high. My blood pressure was also a little higher than usual, but the nurse said that could be due to my stressful day.

Other than that the visit was very uneventful. My next appointment is May 7th. That's when we find out if Baby B is a she or a he.

Will it ever end?

I didn't enter into pregnancy naively thinking it would be a piece of cake. I'm very familiar with both children and pregnant people. I read a lot, I know a lot of people who have had babies, I've taken child development classes... Basically, I'm educated.

BUT, I am almost positive that in NEARLY EVERYTHING I have read morning sickness is supposed to end when your first trimester ends. Well, it hasn't. Twelve weeks has come and gone. And quite honestly, I'm tired of being sick. Poor Lofton has resorted to pleading with the baby every night to stop making me so ill. We see Dr. Alverson on Wednesday so I am hoping for some relief.

In other news, Lofton has finally given me the go ahead to out his paper route on the blog. I have really done well keeping this a secret. I have only told my close friends and school collegues. I let him be in charge of telling his family. And he has told everyone, except Sally. So Sal, if you are reading this, SURPRISE Lofton got a paper route. He really is crazy!

In the beginning, I thought he might push me over the edge, but after a few weeks we are adjusting. He isn't as tired, and I really just don't care anymore. He didn't ask before he got the route, he just did it. Obviously I would prefer him not be worn out all the time, but he is bound and determined that this is what he wants to do, so I really see no point in arguing about it. And I do appreciate the sentiment behind it, he really feels like he needs the paper route to take care of our family.

Since I was awake sick on Friday night/early Saturday morning I tagged along for a short ride. It was kind of fun. Although Lofton did make me fold and bag papers. I didn't last the whole time because I got sick and had to come home, but if having a mid-day paper route was an option I might consider it as a summer job. (Consider being the key word)

Doctor's appointment on Wednesday. We get to listen to Baby B's heart again and I think we get to set the date for finding out if Baby B is a he or a she. Sorry Cassie, I don't think Dr. Alverson is going to tell me early as a wedding gift to you. I'll ask though!

And as a tribute to my favorite bride to be, an old picture I found in my dresser from the summer after freshman year. My how things have changed!

The week in review

What an end to a hectic week! We spent today in Anniston with the Hurst family. We finally got to meet baby Brenan. Lofton did a fabulous job of holding him, he even walked around with him! Obviously he loves children (or we wouldn't be having one), he is just afraid to touch them when they are small. Analee was a busy bee as usual. I can't believe she'll be two in a few weeks. Time goes so quickly!

A quick recap to the week...

This week brought the end of my pre-pregnancy, size 4 pants. Tuesday, I wore a pair of non-maternity pants to school. They were a bit snug, but I could breathe and move comfortably. Thursday, I put the same pants on (just in a different color) and I had to wear them unbuttoned all day. Clearly I knew I was going to outgrow my clothes. I just didn't anticipate that it would happen in 48 hours. Goodbye size four. I'll miss you. It's been a great six years. Hopefully we'll meet again someday. Maybe around Christmas.

I have days when I feel lots better and don't get sick at all, and then days when I still feel yucky. I am hopeful this week will be a turning point. My insomnia is improving though. I slept through the night (with the exception of the bathroom trips) four days last week.

Holding Brenan today made me think about meeting Baby B and how excited I am. I can't believe in 28 weeks Baby B will be here.

Spring Break

I am at home for Spring break this week, and what a glorious spring break it is!

I am sick with a cold and unable to take any medicine other than Tylenol. My head hurts, my throat hurts, and now my neck hurts because I tried to sleep sitting up last night so I wouldn't cough as much. I suppose better this week than next when I have to be back at school.

Enjoy the blog changes. I tried to spiff things up a little.

What a fabulous Wednesday!

I had my check-up today with Dr. Alverson. Everything went well! Baby B is right on target for October 9th. That however is not why the day was fabulous.... the doctor's appointment had surprises in store for Lofton and I.

The first surprise is that although my pants (among other things) are getting snug, I have not gained weight since my first appointment. I am still at my pre-pregnancy weight. This was surprising for two reasons. Obviously the growing waistline was a nagging concern, and also I have not been cooking as frequently because the smell makes me ill.

So, to Lofton, my husband who has been smirking at me when I struggle to find pants in the morning, and my father-in-law Alan who made a vague reference to my waist size, I say, My waist may not be a size 22, but it is far closer than either of you will ever be. And I'm pretty sure that neither of you still wears the same size pants you did six years ago.

The second fabulous event at the doctor's office was that we got to do another ultrasound. The nurses at the office are AMAZING. I was talking with one about the hemotoma that was found on my uterus and she said not to worry she had the same thing and her baby is fine, but she understood that I was concerned. She left to take Dr. Alverson some paperwork and when she came back she said the magical words, "Let's go next door and do another ultrasound. Seeing the baby will make you feel better since we can't hear the heart on the Doppler yet."

It was incredible! Baby B has gotten so much bigger since the last ultrasound. Lofton and I got to see the baby move. It was kicking its little feet and waving its arms. It also had a large head which Lofton said clearly indicates it has Buckley genes. So funny, Lofton. Buckley's have large heads because we have abnormally large brains, what can I say?

Lofton and I are going home this weekend to watch Jackson. Rice and Debbie are celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary on Saturday. Congratulations Mom and Daddy! I love you both so much and Baby B could not be more blessed to have you as future grandparents.

What a weekend

Sorry the blog has been devoid of new info, the last week was a long one! Lofton spent the weekend in Atlanta for work and my three favorite (and fabulous) ladies came to visit. Mom, Hannah, Beth and I had a wonderful weekend of shopping and eating.

I am off to the doctor on Wednesday for a check-up with Dr. Alverson. I am eager to hear about Baby B's progress and anxious to listen to the heartbeat again. I have some serious questions for the doctor about my allergies. The past few weeks have not been pleasant. I really do miss the Benadryl and Allegra.

Other than that I am just counting the days until Friday and Spring Break. My little ones are starting to wear on me!

A more substantial update on Wednesday...
