It's official. Summer is over; school starts tomorrow. I can't even believe how the past two months have flown by. Reese will be here before we know it! I'm so excited and so anxious at the same time. I think we can all agree being anxious is one of my most endearing traits, but it is really starting to affect Lofton's sleep. I have terrible insomnia and I toss and turn all night. Not to mention the multiple trips to the bathroom!
In other news, I left the dogs out today when I went to run an errand. It was one errand, it took maybe an hour, and what do I find when I get back? Jake has eaten ANOTHER loaf of bread. French bread this time, minus the wrapper. I guess he learned his lesson from last time about the paper and plastic being hard to digest. What are we going to do with him?

29 weeks!
To celebrate being twenty nine weeks pregnant I put in a full day at work yesterday. There is just so much to do to make sure my room is ready for August 4th.
An interesting statistic for Baby Reese this week: He is the size of a loaf of bread. So go ahead, hold a loaf of bread up to your stomach! Poor thing. He has been compared to a grain of rice, a bean, a bottle cap, and so many other food items! I guess baby writers assume pregnant people have food fixations.
Lofton and I are going to pick up my chair today. FINALLY! I'll post a picture this weekend. When the lady called to tell me it was here she said, "I'm so sorry it took so long. You haven't had the baby yet have you?" No furniture lady, I haven't. BUT it is a really good thing I bought the chair in May and didn't wait like Lofton told me to.

Worker Bee and other things
As we speak sweet Lofton is working with Sally and Lee to put crown moulding in the bedrooms and hallway. He hung crown in the living room and dining room in January (and it looks great!) AND at that time he asked me if I wanted crown in the bedrooms. I emphatically said no. But a few weeks ago I changed my mind SO here he is, spending his Saturday working.
He is the hardest worker EVER. Between work and the paper route he is a busy bee, but in the past few weeks he has installed a new floating dock at the lake, built platform stairs for my mom over the fourth of July weekend, and now is installing the crown. And as mom pointed out over the fourth, we didn't even know he was so handy when I married him. We really got a deal!
I too, been busy today, but not with manual labor. I went to the grocery store, Target (twice), and I have washed five loads of laundry. We had a lot of dirty clothes from being out of town two weekends in a row. I'm now exhausted. I thought maybe my breathlessness was a sign of being out of shape pre-pregnancy, but NO! American Baby magazine assures me that my lungs are working fifty percent harder to support Reese, and they are also being squished as he grows.
Speaking of Reese, he has taken up permanent residence under my ribcage. I know from the 4D ultrasound that he has his feet wedged comfortably under the right side of my ribs. My stomach is actually lopsided. He rarely ventures far from my right side so sometimes his little bottom pokes out like a tumor. It looks very alien-ish. I'm sure as he grows, the problem will only be compounded.
My feet have also started puffing. My whole life I have complained about having super-skinny ankles like my dad. I've hated them for at least fifteen years. No longer, my friends. I would give anything to see my bony ankles again. I now have basically no ankle bones and I am fairly certain they are gone for the next three months. Yet another one of those pregnancy perks I LOVE!
I had AMSTI training this week at Opelika Middle School. A whole week of science training feels like a waste of time considering I spend over half my day teaching reading, BUT no one asked me. Anyway, on Wednesday, our sweet instructor told us to wear comfortable clothes on Thursday and Friday because we would be hiking. Yes, that says hiking. It's not a mistype! So on Wednesday night as Lofton rubbed my swollen feet, I casually mentioned that I was going to be expected to hike on Thursday and Friday. This is our conversation:
"Lofton, they want me to HIKE tomorrow at school! And I'm sorry but seven-months-pregnant Elizabeth does NOT hike."
"Baby, non-pregnant Elizabeth didn't hike, obviously pregnant Elizabeth doesn't hike."
"What are you saying? That I'm lazy? Fat?"
With that, we went to bed.
I have to work next week also. Summer is basically over because teachers return to school July 31st. Where has the time gone. Baby Reese will be here before we know it!

Sweet face
I apologize for the delay in pictures, I was sidelined with a migraine. As you can see Reese is very squished in my belly. His head is still down and his feet are resting somewhere amongst my right ribs.
Face smushed, looking mad
Sweet hand up by his face
so sleepy

It's getting crowded in there!
Nothing exciting going on here. VBS ended last night with a performance at the church and a hot dog picnic. The preschoolers did a great job of singing on stage. It was an exhausting week, but I'm so glad I participated. Still not ever going to teach little ones though:)
Lofton FINALLY felt Reese move Tuesday after lunch, and as I was reading this morning in my pregnancy journal about what Reese is up to this 25th week, I realized why Lofton could feel him. Baby Reese is huge! So much bigger than I thought. I swear when last I read he was seven inches (on average) long. Clearly he has undergone a growth spurt. He is now approximately 13 inches long.* I am rapidly running out of room!
* If you would like to know how big 13 inches is in comparison to your stomach, you can take a sheet of computer paper (11 inches long) and hold it up to your stomach. Or you could use a ruler but I didn't have one of those handy.

A birthday and the first day of VBS
Happy Birthday Marene!
Lofton and I had a busy weekend of traveling. John Henry got married in B'Ham Saturday night. The wedding was a blast and Lofton got to spend time with a lot of his old Sig Ep friends. Unfortunately, we had to drive back around midnight so that Lofton could do the paper route Sunday morning. Have I mentioned how much I love the paper route?
Sunday, we spent a glorious day in Goodwater with our favorite birthday lady. Thanks for the extra pound cake Marene. Baby Reese loved it!
This week I'm helping Wendy teach vacation bible school at church. After one day, I can tell you that I am MORE than thankful I teach third graders and not Pre-K. Fourteen four year olds will wear you out in a heartbeat. I had to use my teacher voice very early and even put someone in timeout!
Baby Reese and I are now resting our feet and watching Baby Einstein with the only four year old we always love, Will. Baby Einstein is supposed to be highly educational for youngsters. Do you think Reese can absorb knowledge in-utero?
I am growing by the day, but (sorry Cassie) I will NOT post another picture until July.

Happy (kind of) Father's Day, Lofton!
Happy Father's Day, Lofton. Even though Reese isn't here yet, he already loves you so much. No you don't lug him around in your belly, and no your body isn't undergoing some strange metamorphis, BUT you do take fabulous care of his mom!
Here are the top ten reasons why you are the best soon-to-be daddy ever:
1. When I was sick for FOUR months, you let me eat whatever I wanted and you never complained that I didn't cook. I'm soory that all the pizza and Wendy's has made you sick.
2. When I did cook, you did all the dirty dishes so I didn't have to look at them or smell them.
3. You pump my gas and clean the bathrooms so I don't have to smell the fumes from the bleach or gasoline.
4. You rub my back and my feet after I've been standing up all day.
5. Even when you are really comfortable lying on the couch, you get up so I can sit there and stretch out. Vice versa, if you are in the chair and I want to sit there.
6. You go to every doctor's appointment with me. You even ask Dr. Alverson silly questions, for example, "Can we have travel restrictions yet?"
7. You got a paper route.
8. You took me to Sam's last night in a rainstorm to buy a cheesecake sampler because I REALLY wanted some cheesecake.
9. You tell me I'm beautiful everyday, even though last week I lost my belly button and my stomach is huge.
10. You talk to Reese at night (while you rub my belly) and tell him how much you love him.
I am so blessed to be on this exciting new journey with you.
